2013 Summit Telluride: Dates Announced

June 5, 2012

The 2013 No Barriers Summit
We are excited to announce that the next No Barriers Summit will be held August 8-11, 2013 in beautiful Telluride, Colorado! Mark your calendars now to participate in this exceptional four-day event! The Summit will include a wide variety of adaptive clinics, an incredible exhibit hall, innovative scientific showcases and much, much more.

Why Telluride?
Those of you who have attended before know that an incredible, natural setting that inspires us to reach new heights is the essential background for the No Barriers Summit. When our planning team began to look at potential destinations to host the 2013 Summit, one mountain town stood out from all of the other choices. The Telluride community has made a commitment to support and perpetuate adaptive adventure sports in one of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring settings in the United States. Home to Telluride Adaptive Sports, they have a well-established and comprehensive adaptive sports program that serves disabled people from all over the world. Every person we met with in the area was excited by the No Barriers mindset. Telluride offers a multitude of clinic opportunities within a very short distance, including hiking, mountain and street biking, water sports and much more! Attendees will experience the magical background of jagged Rocky Mountain peaks, an incredible box canyon accessible by gondola, and the beautifully winding San Miguel River, all of which have made Telluride the famous home to many of the most highly-acclaimed arts and adventure festivals. The Road Less Traveled
Of course, such an incredible location isn’t found in the middle of a metropolitan area. Telluride is a little harder to get to than some other places we considered. But as members of the No Barriers community, we know you understand that life is about the journey. There are several beautiful routes to Telluride from the surrounding metropolitan hubs (which include Denver, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Phoenix and Salt Lake City). We’ll also be working hard to coordinate several accessible transportation options to make it easier on travelers. In addition, we plan on having some fun mapped out along the way so you can enjoy the ride!
