The No Barriers Community of Partners

We build long-term relationships with partnering corporations, nonprofit organizations, foundations and government agencies. These partners improve the quality of our programs, expand the scope of our impact and provide new opportunities that inspire our No Barriers community by providing financial and/or technical support. This partner list is a small cross-section of the wide breadth of partners with which we are engaged.

Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.

When Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. (GSUSA) launched its Include All Girls initiative, they were looking for a way to get girls with disabilities traveling as a part of their Destinations programs. Together, GSUSA and Global Explorers co-created an inclusive travel experience in the U.S. Southwest as a part of our Cooperative Agreement with the National Park Service. Lessons learned from the experience were shared with other Girl Scout leaders at the National Girl Scout Conference on Inclusion in Washington, D.C. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

From the Jane Goodall Institute to the National Sports Center for the Disabled, we partner with many domestic and international nonprofit partners as we implement all of our programs.

AFAR Media

When AFAR Media launched its multi-platform travel media brand, they wanted to be able to showcase their belief that travel is the best form of education. Working with AFAR, we co-created a program called Learning AFAR, which grants travel scholarships to high-achieving, low-income students who would not otherwise be able to explore our world. Together, we have designed meaningful employee engagement initiatives and created opportunities to involve other companies and foundations in sponsorship of student travel. AFAR is devoted to experiential travel, which connects you with the authentic essence of a place and its people, deepening your understanding of the world, its cultures and yourself.

Other supporters of our Global Explorers youth programs include, but are not limited to, Schlumberger, the Pearson Foundation, Wimmer Solutions, the National Park Service, the U.S. Department of State, the OtterCares Foundation and the Bohemian Foundation.

ARINC

ARINC, always seeking creative ways to connect their defense and government industries work to important causes, is a sponsor of our Soldiers to Summits program. Going above and beyond a traditional sponsorship, ARINC offered in-kind support to develop a PR plan for our program and will provide all technological communications solutions during our 2012 Cotopaxi expedition. No Barriers works closely with ARINC to craft meaningful and unique internal employee involvement opportunities. ARINC is a premier provider of communications, engineering and integration solutions.

Other supporters of our Soldiers to Summits program include, but are not limited to, AT&T, GE, Amgen, Abbott Industries, Circadence, Dow Chemical, Kronos, Swift Industries, West and the Tug McGraw Foundation.

The Tug McGraw Foundation

The Tug McGraw Foundation (TMF) recently expanded its mission to cover brain-related traumas such as post-traumatic stress disorder experienced by wounded soldiers. Seeking innovative programs to help fulfill their broadened mission, they embraced Soldiers to Summits. No Barriers and TMF are co-creating fundraising events, joining forces on marketing and PR, and envisioning the future growth and development of the S2S program. The mission of TMF is to provide resources and hands-on support, foster understanding, promote awareness and stimulate research and scientific collaboration to improve quality of life for people with brain-related traumas and tumors.

Other foundations supporting our Global Explorers and Soldiers to Summits programs include, though are not limited to, the Anschutz Foundation, the Walton Family Foundation, OtterCares, the Crystal Grant Fund, the Bohemian Foundation and the Dr. Scholl’s Foundation.

Stone Ward

“Building Good” is the motto of Stone Ward, a full service advertising, marketing and PR agency. And there are few marketing projects that Stone Ward felt could build more good for the world this year than assisting No Barriers with the formal launch of its brand. From website design to brand identity development, Stone Ward created a look and feel that embodies who we are as an organization. Keeping in line with our goal of truly engaging with committed partners, No Barriers and Stone Ward will co-host a Chicago fundraising and launch event in fall 2013.

Other PR agencies that have embraced the No Barriers mission and programs in the past include, but are not limited to, Fleishman-Hillard, Atlas Advertising, the Worden Group and Boscobel.

Wimmer Solutions

Wimmer Solutions sought a way to connect their new CSR initiative, Care Creates Community, to its employees and the Seattle community in which their headquarters is based. Linking Wimmer to our Learning AFAR programs for diverse youth, we identified and matched them with a Seattle-area technology-based high school. In addition to embarking upon a life-changing international journey, these students will engage with Wimmer employees as a part of our comprehensive educational curriculum at Global Explorers. From a single consultant to an entire team of specialists, Wimmer Solutions is the premier Northwest resource for consulting, staffing and team-based solutions.

We have co-created meaningful CSR initiatives with companies including Travel Channel, AFAR Media, Intrado and Schlumberger.
