Annette Mattern

Retired C-Suite Leader

Annette is a leader with extensive corporate leadership experience. She is also a passionate advocate of causes. She led a national cancer charity for a decade, and published a book for women facing cancer, donating all proceeds to charity.

An advocate for women and minorities for her entire corporate life, she instituted mentorship programs for promising minority candidates. She negotiated internships, connecting business leaders with at-risk kids. And, she changed working conditions to align with diversity goals.

She has overcome obstacles in life and uses her experiences to move forward. Most recently, as Chief Communications Officer and Sexual Assault Leader at ANDE Corporation, she added her voice to the survivor community to help galvanize demands for change. Then, she took the issues to Congress on behalf of 400,000 rape victims with untested Sexual Assault Kits.

Previously, as an Executive Producer at a life sciences digital agency, WireBuzz LLC, she produced award-winning video content for bioscience clients. Her skill in brand development and strategic marketing was honed through management assignments at US WEST/Qwest and AT&T, where she helped transform traditional demand revenue into solutions-based, high margin applications.

A 33-year survivor of ovarian cancer, and a 12-year survivor of breast cancer, Annette is deeply connected to women’s cancer programs. She founded a charity in Arizona to help families navigate healthcare systems. She speaks often at community events about optimism in the face of catastrophic illness.

Annette studied at the University of Texas, Texas State University. She furthered her leadership skills through the J F Kennedy School of Govt., Public Admin Leadership Program and Stanford University Advanced Management College, Leadership Program.

Her board experiences include the Portland Opera Board, Oregon Symphony, INROADS for Youth, NW Cancer Foundation, Founder of Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Arizona, President of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, and PR advisor to Abolish Private Prisons.org.

Annette seeks purpose in her life and will harmonize well with the No Barriers team as we advance our cause.
