Dustin Speakman served with the 3/320th Field Artillery of the 101st Airborne Division in the US Army. While on deployment to Iraq, Dustin suffered injuries resulting in damage to his spine and a Traumatic Brain Injury, which eventually led him to separate from service.
Dustin continues to reach further in his civilian life. He worked to co-found B-BOLD, a non-profit whose objective is to teach empowered adaptive living through sports and recreation to people of all disabilities and walks of life. Dustin believes that everything in his life has led him to this point—a calling to teach people with disabilities that anything in life can be adapted to and overcome, regardless of your disability.
Dusting looks forward to participating in this program because it gives him the opportunity to feel a sense of camaraderie again with his fellow veterans. Through this expedition he hopes to challenge himself, get out of his comfort zone, push himself to the limits, and to be an invaluable member of the rope team helping to ensure everyone completes the mission at hand.
Dustin is an alumnus of the Colorado 5-Day Expedition that took place August 17-22, 2018 and the Veterans Advance in Colorado that took place February 15, 2018.
