Frankie Perez served in the US Army as an Infantryman for 15 years. During his time in service, he deployed to Saudi Arabia and Iraq. While on deployment, an IED attack on Frankie’s convoy changed his life. When he returned home, he was faced with limited support and a complete lack of a veteran’s community. Missing the support of his comrades, Frankie saw the opportunity to join different programs for veterans as a way to help bring himself back to the light.
These days, Frankie makes a point of participating in veterans events wherever he can. He knows how important it is to have a support system and hopes that he can help provide that for other veterans transitioning out of military service. Through this expedition, Frankie hopes to continue growing as a human being so that he can help those who need it the most. He looks forward to reconnecting with himself and learning from the beautiful stories the team will share along the way.
Frankie is an alumnus of the New Mexico 7-Day Expedition in the Gila Wilderness that took place May 13-20, 2017.
