Global SVP of Customer Experience at Berlitz

Steve Rae is the global SVP of Customer Experience at Berlitz, a 140-year-old global language training provider. In this role, Steve is driving the transformation of learning platforms, technology, and products and creatively bringing new offerings and business models to the market leader in Language training.

A true global citizen, Steve has extensive experience working abroad and managing international business teams. His international upbringing and career have allowed him to see the role that diversity, inclusion, and community can have on building cultures that welcome creativity and innovation. Steve helped No Barriers to conceive and build the Leading Beyond Barriers program and is working to help No Barriers extend their vision and reach into the global leadership development market.

Steve also has an accomplished track record as an executive at IBM, where he helped to conceive and build IBM’s digital learning business globally as Vice President of Learning Services.

Steve has a passion for improving the lives of others, which is why he has spent much of his career in training and learning. He believes strongly in servant leadership and leading an impactful life that elevates others. Steve has grown up and lived all over the world. He was born in Brazil, grew up in Denmark, Belgium, and England, and moved to the US when he was 14. His first job was with IBM in South Africa, and this further cemented his passion for innovation, change, and leading transformation and growth.

Steve has always had a passion for travel and has made it a priority to do so with his family. Steve currently resides in Chicago with his wife, Susan, and they have three grown sons who live, work, and travel globally.
