Allyson knew from a young age that she loved the outdoors. She grew up on the border Rocky Mountain National Park and spent her childhood exploring the mountains with her father. Then during her senior year of high school she was offered the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica through the Sister Cities Foundation exchange between Estes Park and Monteverde. The program not only taught Allyson about the importance of the natural environment but also the vital role that society plays in managing fragile ecosystems. It was here she learned about her passion for cultural immersion and service. This experience inspired her to begin taking Spanish classes, learn about more about environmental issues and intern with No Barriers.
Allyson is majoring in Environmental Sociology, with a minor in Spanish at Colorado State University. She hopes to someday work for a non-profit organization that inspires others to make a positive change in the world.
During her free time she tries to get outside as much as possible. She also enjoys drinking tea, cooking exotic food, painting, drawing and anything else artsy!
