Summit is open to all individuals who are looking to break through personal barriers and grow a community of like minded people. With activities, speakers and personal connection, you will have the chance to meet people from around the world. These relationships allow you to band together to help others reach their full potential and vice versa. Be sure to tag follow along for next summer’s Summit to celebrate who you are and guide you to become the best version of yourself!

2. Friends Life Social Club

Friends Life Community offers people with disabilities the opportunity to develop socially and personally while enjoying the community they create together. It aims to support individuals as they transfer out of support systems and into life on their own.

Their social club is a fee based group for adults with disabilities to get together and improve their social skills and social independence. 6. Create your own eventGroup of people talking.

It can be challenging to find an event that is fully inclusive and aims to empower many individuals. A great way to combat this issue is to create your own! That may seem like a daunting idea, but it doesn’t have to be anything big. From a group that gets together once a month to get ice cream and connect to a one time event where you invite your friends over to your house to watch empowering TedTalks, the options are endless.

It is so important though, no matter what you do, to find others like you and connect with them. We are so much stronger when we have a community standing behind us, especially when they can relate to you in a way that not many others can.

These organizations prove you can find fun activities for people with disabilities! Although they may seem hard to come by, with the right research and determination you will find something in your area that fits your needs.

Although it can feel overwhelming and scary to put yourself out there, it is so important. Experiencing events with like minded people can make a major impact in your life. Being able to grow a positive, strong community around you is essential. When we navigate life and all the unknowns it brings, having community similar to you can be majorly impactful. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there to find the community and event that is right for you! You won’t regret it.
