Expeditions Descriptions

The 5-day Basecamp expeditions are multidisciplinary expeditions that are based at our No Barriers Mountain Adventure Camp, in the Red Feather Lakes region of Colorado. Before the expedition starts, your team will be introduced to each other and the No Barriers Life through our innovative online learning platform. Once in Colorado, your team will experience the No Barriers Life while white-water rafting the Poudre River, climbing our exclusive rock formations, and trekking through the Colorado backcountry. During your stay at our “one-step-from-wilderness” camp, you will cook together, rest up from each day’s challenge, and spend time with your fellow veterans. While this opportunity is open to veterans of all ability levels, getting into shape prior to arriving will make it a more enjoyable experience.

The 5-day Backcountry expeditions are set in the middle of the beautiful Snowy Range of the Medicine Bow National Forest. Led by No Barriers Warriors expedition leaders, 12 veterans will head out on the trail, navigating from low camp to high camp together. Depending on time and weather, there may be an opportunity to summit one of the many peaks in this area.

Expedition activities will encourage participants to reflect on their past, recognize where they are in the present and look to the future with positivity. After returning home, veterans will finish the final phase of the program online. It’s designed to help team members pursue a meaningful pledge they set during the journey and to internalize the No Barriers Life.

Upon completion, participants are welcomed into the No Barriers family for ongoing support in accomplishing goals and overcoming barriers, as well as potential future opportunities with No Barriers USA.
