Annual Giving Manager

We are seeking a full-time Annual Giving Manager to join the No Barriers Team.

This Full-Time position is responsible to drive and execute all individual giving strategies resulting in $1.5-$2M in annual revenue generation for No Barriers USA. This position will be located in Fort Collins, CO.

About the Position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duty Category 1:  Individual Giving

  • Develops and initiates annual giving strategies including but not limited to annual appeals; year-end appeal and individual portfolio management
  • Personally leads all efforts for donor development of gifts below $1,000 annually
  • Develops and executes strategies that increase the number of individual donors and increases average amounts per gift
  • Develops and manages portfolios for the Executive Director and Chief Development/Chief Operating Officer and other staff and board as appropriate
  • Assesses and manages giving levels
  • Works with Corporate and Fundraising Events Managers to identify prospects and steward giving
  • Leads online giving efforts and platforms
  • Assesses and initiates new initiatives and giving opportunities

Duty Category 2:  Stewardship of existing donors and prospects

  • Works across departments to steward story-telling that inspires and engages current donors
  • Identifies, measures and executes efforts that increase average gift amounts and retains donors each year
  • Creates opportunities for staff, key volunteers and board members to be engaged in revenue generation and giving
  • With the support of the Development Coordinator, lead volunteer activities including thank-you phone calls and mailings (timing, scripting, etc.) 

Duty Category 3:  Prospecting new major donors for the organization

  • Implements strategy for individual annual donors giving $1k+ with engagement by supporting Executive Director, COO in their assignments
  • Assigns and manages portfolios of individual donors assigned to Development staff and No Barriers leaders
  • Uses Wealthengine to screen donors and identify prospects for gifts of $10K+  

Duty Category 4: Other fundraising duties

  • Reconciles income reporting monthly with Finance
  • Coordinates/provides support for in-person prospecting events as assigned, such as salon events held by board members and donors
  • Provides on the ground support of Colorado area special events as assigned
  • Works with Marketing to develop strategy for, and management of, segmentation of donor and prospect communications

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to positive organizational culture through intentional and identifiable actions
  • Work effectively across all departments to ensure knowledge and alignment of funding needs and opportunities
  • Support employee engagement, stewardship and recognition efforts for individuals and donors from across the organization
  • Work effectively within budget and help manage the resources and expenses within the department

Supervisory Duties:

  • This position engages across the department with Events and Corporate Giving Managers and has a shared Development Coordinator but does not directly supervise staff.  The position does require engagement with high-level donors, partners, and volunteers and requires successful leadership skills for managing cross-departmental projects
  • Position will manage volunteer support in executing annual giving fundraising projects including mailings, thank-you phone calls to donors and other project production

Qualifications:

Knowledge, skills, and ability—

  • Experience in communicating with, engaging and soliciting individual donors
  • Process driven with demonstrable history of implementing giving programs
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as a part of a dynamic and fast-paced team
  • Proven ability to communicate professionally and effectively both in writing and in person with a variety of constituents 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once with significant attention to detail
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to engage in planning discussions and balance both short term and long term growth goals overall
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage within identified  budgets and timelines
  • Exceptional organizational skills and astute attention to detail
  • Experience working successfully with a variety of constituents, high-level volunteers, partners, and team members 
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter who is self-motivated and task- oriented

Education or formal training—

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to public relations; business; events; or nonprofit management
  • Professional development in any of the following areas is desirable: fundraising; fundraising annual campaign management; individual donor development; portfolio management; project management; volunteer engagement

Experience—

  • Proven experience in building and managing donor campaigns, raising funds and asking for donations
  • Experience with and knowledge of online giving platforms and strategies
  • Proven experience working with and engaging leadership volunteers and individuals with the means to make a transformative gift
  • Experience managing projects where a high degree of organization and attention to detail is essential
  • Superior customer service skills to a variety of constituencies in person, over the phone, in writing, over email and in social media
  • Experience working in a professional office environment
  • Nonprofit fundraising experience required
  • Experience specific to independent work with donors, companies and service organizations.

Physical activities–

  • Possible moving of boxes that contain program materials (not a requirement)
  • Possible travel to domestic or international destination that includes activities such as walking for extended periods of time, carrying luggage and gear, riding in boats, engaging in service projects (that may include painting, light construction or planting), and hiking (possibly at high altitudes)

  • This position is based at the No Barriers headquarters office in Fort Collins, CO
  • This position must be able to work independently to execute on work plans and integrate into a variety of environments including working with high net worth individuals, corporate leaders, military families and others engaged in the No Barriers community
  • Limited national travel is required
