No Barriers is looking for a DEI intern! Our team is seeking intern candidates who are passionate about universal accessibility and equity, believe in the power of diversity, and are interested in helping organizations expand inclusion across their culture and communities. Intern candidates who are knowledgeable about diversity, inclusion, cultural intelligence, equity issues, and accessibility, and are looking to learn more, would be a valuable addition to our team. This is a programming role within the Programs team that may include logistics and operations, research, program development, and special projects. The Program Intern may work with participants, partners, outfitters, sponsors, and program leaders in addition to No Barriers staff. The work of this intern will support the successful execution of camps, retreats, expeditions, events, virtual experiences, and/or online courses. This is an unpaid intern position with flexible hours and remote work possible. We are ideally seeking an intern who can work 5-10 hours per week from March to October.
Internship Responsibilities
- Research current social demographics and issues related to DEI
- Brainstorm creative content for workshops/panel discussions/learning series events
- Assist with the creation of presentations and other content for website, social media, etc.
- Work with clients through phone calls, virtual meetings, and in person (if applicable)
- Coordinate and maintain program equipment and materials as pertains to adaptive equipment
- Coordinate program details with outfitters and program partners as it pertains to adaptive equipment
- Support program development (research, curriculum, site reconnaissance)
- Register and support program participants
- Support evaluation distribution, collection, data input, and analysis
- Coordinate program leader logistics and paperwork/materials exchange

- Desire to support outdoor adventure programs
- Interest in learning about the workings of a nonprofit organization
- Interest in diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility
- Effective written and oral communication skills

- Ability to collaborate and work with diverse co-workers and partners
Time Commitment-
Hours per week: 5-10 hrs a week
Start Date: March 1st, 2022
End Date: October 1st, 2022Work environment—
- Based out of the Fort Collins home office requiring use of a computer
- Option to work remotely some of the time
- Occasional field work to support No Barriers programs
- Occasional field work at the NB mountain campus located in Red Feather, Colorado and at the NB warehouse in Fort Collins is possible
Physical activities-
- Possible moving of boxes, program gear, and equipment

No Barriers has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees, including contract staff who have reason to be in contact with program participants. Our goal is to protect the health and safety of our staff and participants. We do allow staff to apply for an exemption to this vaccination policy, which may be granted for medical contraindications or sincerely held religious beliefs. However, because of the nature of most program positions it is likely that approval of an exemption will cause an undue hardship for No Barriers.
